Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 : Decisive Triumph or Bitter Defeat:

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra are a relatively new change in the political map of the country and state. The opposition coalition, the INDIA alliance – which comprises the INC, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP – won the elections in the state, bagging 30 of the 48 assembly seats. These findings captured the new trend where voters coasted the incumbent by entrusting their votes to Shiv Sena (UBT) in major parliamentary seats in Mumbai. Prominent winners of the polls were Anil Desai of Mumbai South Central constituency and Arvind Sawant of Mumbai South.

Such a result can be explained by the pro-INDIA block’s consolidation of a common front with the anti-BJP NDA in Maharashtra as the political competition tightens before the next general elections.
